Mangosuthu University of Technology invites suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for the position of Head of Department (P5) in the Civil Engineering department. This is a leadership opportunity for an academic professional with a solid background in both teaching and administration.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A PhD or Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Experience as a Senior Lecturer at university level for a minimum of five (5) years.

  • At least three (3) years of administrative experience at a departmental or similar level.

  • A proven research track record, with a minimum of 5 accredited journal publications.

  • Demonstrable community engagement, with a proven record of leading or participating in at least two (2) community projects.

  • Active membership in relevant academic and professional associations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic and strategic leadership in the department.

  • Oversee curriculum development and ensure academic excellence.

  • Manage departmental administration, budgeting, and resource allocation.

  • Lead staff development, mentoring, and performance reviews.

  • Foster partnerships with industry, government, and professional bodies.

  • Advance the department’s research output and community engagement initiatives.
