UJ Online Courses for 2027: Fully Online Qualifications and How to Apply

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) offers a small but genuine set of 100% online qualifications through its official online division, UJ Online. If you want to earn a UJ qualification in 2027 without relocating to Johannesburg or attending campus, these are the verified fully online options, checked against UJ's official online programme pages on 11 October 2026.

EduCoast is an independent education publisher and is not affiliated with or endorsed by UJ. Always confirm details on UJ's official pages before applying.

UJ fully online qualifications for 2027

UJ's official online programmes page currently lists three 100% online programmes. UJ states that its online programmes are fully supported, have six start dates per year, require no travel, and use a pay-per-module approach. For the January 2027 intake, UJ's official site asks applicants to apply by 30 November 2026 to start by 11 January 2027.

1. Advanced Diploma in School Leadership and Management (undergraduate)

Designed for school principals and aspirant principals who want to develop school leadership and management capacity. It is an undergraduate-level fully online programme, suited to educators already working in schools who need a flexible, part-time route.

2. Bachelor of Education Honours in Education Leadership and Management (postgraduate)

A 120-credit honours programme with a strong research focus, aimed at principals, deputy principals, heads of department, district officials and experienced teachers. UJ describes it as a part-time programme requiring about 21 hours of study per week. Admission is selective: UJ's official course page points to requirements including a four-year professional teaching qualification or degree at NQF level 7 with a minimum average of 65%. Confirm the exact current requirements on the official BEd Honours course page.

3. Master of Business Administration (postgraduate)

Offered through the Johannesburg Business School as a fully online MBA for working professionals. Check the official MBA course page for admission requirements, duration and fees.

How online study works at UJ

Teaching is delivered online with structured support; UJ states no travel is required and you pay per module rather than a single upfront annual fee. With six intakes per year, a missed deadline usually means waiting for the next start date rather than a full year. Assessments and examinations are conducted online — confirm the examination format for your specific programme on the official course page before you enrol.

Entry requirements, duration and fees

Requirements differ per programme: the undergraduate Advanced Diploma suits educators with prior qualifications, while the honours and MBA have selective postgraduate admission criteria. UJ publishes fees per programme on its official UJ Online fees page. Because fees and requirements change, use the official pages linked in this article as your final authority.

How to apply for UJ Online 2027

Applications for UJ Online programmes are made through the official UJ Online site, not the general undergraduate application portal (which closes at 12:00 on 31 October 2026 for contact study). For the January 2027 start, apply by 30 November 2026 via UJ's official online programmes page. Online applications are free — beware of anyone asking for payment to apply on your behalf.

Is a UJ online qualification right for you?

These programmes suit working adults and school leavers who cannot relocate. Note the current fully online suite is narrow — education leadership plus an MBA — so if you want a different field, compare with other universities' online offerings rather than assuming UJ will add your programme. Also check whether your intended career (for example, roles requiring professional-body registration) accepts the qualification mode.
