UFS 2027 Undergraduate Applications Closing Soon – Apply Before 30 September 2026

The University of the Free State's 2027 undergraduate applications are closing soon. Students applying for programmes with the final 30 September 2026 deadline should complete their applications online before applications close.

Students planning to start their undergraduate studies at the University of the Free State (UFS) in 2027 have only a short time left to submit applications for programmes with the 30 September 2026 closing date.

The University of the Free State opened its 2027 undergraduate applications on 1 April 2026, and applications for the remaining eligible programmes close on 30 September 2026. The application process is completed online and is free.

UFS 2027 Applications Close on 30 September

The 30 September 2026 deadline applies to:

  • All other selection and non-selection undergraduate programmes that do not have an earlier closing date

  • Applications from students transferring from another tertiary institution for non-selection programmes

  • Community Development at the Qwaqwa Campus

  • Construction Economics and Management

  • Construction Management (Compact Learning)

  • Drama and Theatre Arts

  • Fine Arts

  • Forensic Sciences

  • Music

  • Physics with Engineering subjects

  • Quantity Surveying (Compact Learning)

Students should check the 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus carefully before applying because some programmes closed earlier.

Some UFS Programmes Had Earlier Closing Dates

Not all UFS undergraduate programmes have a 30 September deadline.

For the 2027 intake, the university lists earlier closing dates for several programmes. These include MB ChB, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Physiotherapy, Radiation Sciences, Biokinetics, Dietetics and Sport Coaching, which had a 31 May 2026 closing date.

Nursing, Social Work and Architecture had a 31 July 2026 closing date, while international undergraduate applications closed on 31 August 2026.

This means students should not assume that a programme is still accepting applications simply because the general UFS deadline is 30 September.

Who Should Apply Before the Deadline?

The current closing date is particularly relevant to prospective students who have not yet completed an undergraduate application for a programme that remains open.

It also applies to eligible students transferring from another tertiary institution for non-selection programmes.

Before starting an application, students should check the programme's admission requirements and confirm that they meet the minimum requirements for their chosen qualification.

The UFS advises applicants to consult the 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus for programme information and admission requirements.

What Documents Do You Need?

UFS advises undergraduate applicants to prepare their supporting documents in PDF format, with each document below the university's specified 2 MB size limit. Depending on the applicant's circumstances, these may include:

  • South African applicants' ID, or a passport for international applicants

  • A parent or guardian's ID or passport if the applicant is under 18

  • Final Grade 11 results or equivalent results

  • Mid-year Grade 12 results or equivalent results

  • A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification if the applicant has already matriculated

  • An academic record if the applicant is currently or was previously enrolled at another accredited higher education institution

Applicants should have an active email address and mobile phone available because both are required to access and complete the online application process.

How to Apply to UFS for 2027

Applications are submitted through the official UFS online application system.

Students should first review the 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus, choose a programme for which they meet the admission requirements, prepare the required documents and then complete the online application.

Apply online: https://apply.ufs.ac.za

The UFS application process is free.

Check Your Application Carefully Before Submitting

Applicants should make sure that all required stages of the online application have been completed and that the information supplied is accurate.

Students should also regularly monitor the email address they used during their application. UFS states that application-status updates are communicated by email, and applicants can also check their status online using the relevant login details.

Submitting an application does not mean that admission has been confirmed. Admission depends on meeting the applicable programme requirements and the university's selection or admission processes.

Don't Miss the 30 September Deadline

For programmes that remain open until the final undergraduate closing date, 30 September 2026 is the deadline.

UFS states that applications received after the applicable closing date will not be considered.

Students who still need to apply should therefore check their chosen programme, prepare their documents and complete the online application before the deadline.
