The Department of Human Settlements (DHS) is inviting South African youth to apply for its 2026 Scholarship Programme. This opportunity is aimed at academically talented and financially deserving students who wish to pursue studies in Human Settlements–related fields at a recognised institution of higher learning.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be a South African citizen
Be a youth applicant
Be an undergraduate student (no previous tertiary qualification)
Have exceptional matric results
Demonstrate financial need
Be admitted or provisionally accepted at a recognised higher education institution

Architecture / Architectural Technology
Construction Management / Construction Science
Civil Engineering
Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
Town and Regional Planning / Urban and Rural Studies
Quantity Surveying / Land Surveying / Building Surveying

Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following:
Completed DHS scholarship application form (downloadable from the DHS website)
Certified copy of South African ID
Certified copy of June or December matric results
Proof of residence
Provisional acceptance letter from a recognised higher education institution
Proof of parents’ or guardians’ income (salary slip or affidavit)
Certified copies of parents’ or guardians’ ID documents
