Commonwealth Startup Fellowship 2025/26

The Commonwealth Startup Fellowship (CSF) is a six-month programme designed to support and accelerate high-potential startups from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries. The initiative is delivered in partnership with the Imperial College London Enterprise Lab and combines in-person and online training to equip entrepreneurs with the tools they need to scale their ventures.


Programme Overview

The CSF includes:

  • Expert-led training and one-on-one mentorship

  • Business coaching in key areas such as fundraising, branding, team growth, go-to-market strategies, and financial planning

  • Access to global peer networks

  • Pitching opportunities to investors at a capstone event in London

Programme Structure

  1. In-Person Bootcamp (Accra, Ghana):
    Two-week immersive experience focused on refining business models, developing growth strategies, and networking.

  2. Online Learning and Coaching:
    Monthly venture review panels, virtual modules, and mentorship to implement strategies in real time.

  3. Capstone Week (London, UK):
    Fully funded investor pitching event and additional networking opportunities with global stakeholders.


Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a citizen or refugee from a low- or middle-income Commonwealth country

  • Hold a graduate-level qualification

  • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country

  • Be fluent in English

  • Be available for the full programme duration

  • Not have held a Commonwealth Professional Fellowship in the last five years

Applicants must also demonstrate:

  • Innovation in product, service, or market

  • At least six months of active development

  • A working MVP, prototype, or service

  • Clear customer engagement or traction (e.g. early sales, contracts, proof of demand)


What the Fellowship Covers

  • Return economy airfare to Accra, Ghana

  • Accommodation, meals, and local transport during the bootcamp

  • Reimbursement for standard visa and vaccination costs

  • Access to the Fellow’s Grant Fund for business or programme-related expenses

  • Additional disability support, following an individual assessment by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC)

This opportunity is not offered by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). Applicants are responsible for:
