How to Apply to the University of Limpopo (UL) for 2026

1. Required Documents

Make sure you have certified copies (clear and recent) of the following:

  • South African ID or passport

  • Final Grade 11 results or Matric certificate

  • Academic transcripts (if applicable)

  • Proof of payment (if you’re applying manually)

  • Any additional documents required for specific programmes

2. Application Fee

  • Online applications: No application fee

  • Manual/Hard copy applications: R200 (non-refundable)

3. Application Dates

  • Applications open: 1 April 2025

  • Applications close: 30 September 2025

    • Some programmes (e.g. Health Sciences) may have earlier deadlines

4. Step-by-Step Application Guide

A. Online Application (Preferred Method)

  1. Visit the UL application portal: www.ul.ac.za

  2. Click on “Online Application” and register an account.

  3. Fill in personal, academic, and programme-specific details.

  4. Upload all required documents.

  5. Submit your application and keep your student/reference number for tracking.

B. Manual Application

  1. Download the application form from the website.

  2. Complete the form in full.

  3. Attach all required documents and proof of payment (R200).

  4. Submit via post or hand-deliver to the admissions office.

5. After Applying

  • You’ll receive a student/reference number for communication and tracking.

  • Log into the UL portal to monitor your status.

  • Offers will be sent via email/SMS once final results are received.

  • Accepted students will be required to complete registration online or in person.

6. Admission Requirements (General)

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a Bachelor’s pass

  • A minimum of 50% in English (Home or First Additional Language)

  • At least four subjects at level 4 (50–59%) or higher

  • APS score varies by faculty and programme

    • For example:

      • MBChB (Medicine): APS of 38+, high performance in Mathematics, Life Sciences, and Physical Sciences

      • BEd: APS of 26+, with level 4 in teaching subjects
