At Boland College, we love celebrating the incredible journeys of our alumni, and today, we're thrilled to shine a spotlight on a true success story: Tyron Kyle Adams!
Tyron is a fantastic example of passion, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit, proving that with dedication, you can turn challenges into incredible opportunities.
Tyron's Boland College Journey:
Tyron studied Hospitality and Catering Services at Boland College. When asked what he enjoyed most about his time with us, he highlighted the expertise of his lecturers: "Our lecturers were knowledgeable on the subjects that were taught and gave us great insight into the various subjects and topics that were discussed in class. I also enjoyed practical classes very much." It's wonderful to hear that our dedicated educators played such a pivotal role in his learning!
A Vision for the Future:
Looking ahead, Tyron has ambitious and inspiring goals. In 10 years, he sees himself "expanding my business, providing jobs and hopefully educating and playing a role in the lives of the next generation of chefs." This commitment to giving back and nurturing new talent truly embodies the spirit of leadership.
Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Students:
Tyron's message to current or prospective students is powerful and profound: "You owe it to no one but yourself to do the best you possibly can. That means spending as much time as you can with your passion outside of the times you are required to." This emphasizes the importance of dedication and going beyond the call of duty for what you love.
Kumin & Khords: Where Two Passions Meet!
Tyron is not just employed; he's self-employed and the proud founder and head chef at Kumin & Khords!
His business has an inspiring origin story, born during the challenging times of COVID-19. After being retrenched and facing industry cuts, many might have given up, but Tyron's passion for cooking kept him going. "Instead Kumin & Khords was born," he shares. The name itself is ingenious: "Kumin represents the food aspect of my business and Khords the music aspect (as I used to DJ as well), which gave me something no other business could, combining my two favourite things, or as best described by EatOut Magazine, 'Where Two Passions Meet'."
Since its inception, Kumin & Khords has gone from strength to strength! They've won competitions, including the prestigious Shoprite/Checkers Championship Boerewors in 2023! Currently, they are focusing heavily on their culinary services and are the in-house chefs for our provincial rugby team, the Boland Cavaliers! Beyond that, they offer a range of services, including private chef experiences and various function catering.
Tyron Kyle Adams is a testament to what can be achieved with a solid foundation, unwavering passion, and an entrepreneurial spirit. We are incredibly proud to call him a Boland College alumnus!
