2026 Online Admissions Now Open for Grade 1 and Grade 8 in Gauteng

Parents and guardians, the Gauteng Department of Education has officially opened the 2026 online admission applications for learners starting Grade 1 and Grade 8 in public schools.Application Dates:

• Opening Date: Thursday, 24 July 2025

• Closing Date: Friday, 29 August 2025

To secure a space for your child in a public school for 2026, apply online at:
www.gdeadmissions.gov.za

Required Documents

Submit certified copies of the following:

Identification Documents (submit any one):

1. SA Parent ID or Passport

2. Child’s Birth Certificate or Passport

3. Refugee Permit or Asylum Seeker Permit

4. Parent Work Permit, Study Permit, or Residence Permit

Supporting Documents (all are required):

• Proof of Home Address

• Proof of Work Address (optional but useful for placement)

• Latest Grade 7 School Report (Grade 8 applicants only)

• Clinic Card / Immunisation Report (Grade 1 applicants only)
