The North-West University (NWU) was established in 2004 following the merger of the University of North-West (formerly the University of Bophuthatswana) and the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education (PU for CHE). Today, NWU is one of South Africa’s largest universities, with more than 70,000 students across multiple campuses and through distance learning.
NWU is highly regarded for its balanced focus on teaching, learning, and research, as well as its multilingual approach that accommodates Afrikaans, English, and Setswana. The university offers a broad range of academic programmes, including education, law, health sciences, business, engineering, agriculture, natural sciences, and social sciences.
