
1. Prepare Your Documents
Make sure you have certified electronic copies of the following:

South African ID or passport

Grade 11 final results (if still in school)

Matric certificate (if completed)

Academic transcripts (if applicable)

Proof of payment of the application fee
Note: Some programmes may require additional items like portfolios, essays, auditions, or National Benchmark Test (NBT) results.
2. Application Fee

South African applicants: R100
-
International applicants: R700
The fee is non-refundable and must be paid before the closing date of your programme.
3. Application Dates

30 June 2025: Health Sciences, Architecture, Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, Film & Television

30 September 2025: All other undergraduate programmes and residence applications

4. Step-by-Step Application Process
-
Go to the Wits online application portal: www.wits.ac.za/applications
-
Accept the terms and complete the online form.
-
You may apply for up to three programmes (choices do not affect priority).
-
Fill in all required personal and academic information.
-
Upload all required documents in the correct format.
-
Pay the application fee using the Wits payment platform or EFT.
-
Submit your application and save the confirmation page.
5. After Submission
-
You will receive an acknowledgement email with your person/student number.

You can track your application and upload any additional documents on the Wits self-service portal: self-service.wits.ac.za

All updates and correspondence will be sent via email or reflected on your portal.
6. Offer and Acceptance
-
Wits may issue provisional offers based on your Grade 11 results.
-
Final offers are made after your final Matric results are released.

To accept an offer:
-
Log in to the self-service portal.

Accept the offer, sign the student contract, and pay your first fee installment (or apply for financial aid).

You may only accept one offer.
7. Admission Requirements (General)

A Bachelor’s Pass in the National Senior Certificate or equivalent.
-
APS (Admission Point Score) based on your best 7 subjects (including Life Orientation).
-
English as Home Language or First Additional Language is required.
Faculty-specific examples:

Health Sciences: APS around 40+; Life Sciences and Mathematics level 5+; NBT required
-
Engineering: APS around 42+; Mathematics and Physical Science level 6
-
Commerce/Law: Varies by programme; Mathematics often required

Humanities: APS from 34 and upwards depending on the course
