Bachelor of Laws develops knowledge and practical capability in legal principles, reasoning, research and the South African legal system. Students build analytical, communication and problem-solving skills through theory and applied learning. Exact modules and practical components vary by institution and study year.

Constitutional law; private and public law; legal interpretation; legal research; ethics; procedure; and practical legal problem-solving. Module names and sequencing must be confirmed in the institution's current curriculum.
Other admission conditions
Your admission to Unisa is dependent on you meeting the specific admission requirements for your chosen qualification. A National Senior Certificate (NSC) (Degree endorsement) with at least 50% in the language of teaching and learning, or a
Senior Certificate (SC) with matriculation exemption or qualify for the exemption from the Matriculation Board with at least a D symbol on HG or a C symbol on SG in the language of teaching and learning, or a Higher Certificate in Law or a
Higher Certificate in Criminal Justice completed at a public or private higher education institution registered with the DHET with an average of at least 60%, or a 360-credit Diploma in Law or 360-credit diploma in a related field completed at
NQF level 6 at a public or private higher education institution registered with the DHET, or a B Iuris, B Proc, B Com in Law or BA Law degree completed at a public or private higher education institution registered with the DHET. Applicants who

Possible study paths
Graduates may apply for relevant honours or postgraduate diploma study where their qualification, modules and academic results meet the receiving programme's rules. An LLB where applicable, a postgraduate diploma, honours-equivalent legal specialisation, master's degree or professional legal training, subject to entry requirements.
