Are you a young South African residing near a national park and planning to start your first year of undergraduate studies in 2026? The South African National Parks (SANParks) invites applications for its External Bursary Programme – a fully funded opportunity for aspiring students in key fields of study.SANParks External Bursary Programme – 2026 Applications Now OpenWho Should Apply:

  • South African citizens aged 18–35

  • Students from communities adjacent to national parks (see SANParks management plans)

  • Learners entering post-matric studies in 2026

  • Applicants accepted or applying to an accredited public university, university of technology, or TVET college

  • Current students must have passed all registered subjects (100% pass rate)

Fields of Study Include (but are not limited to):

  • Environmental Sciences: Nature Conservation, Environmental Management, Sustainable Development, etc.

  • Tourism: Hospitality, Resort Management, Tour Guiding, Event & Conference Management

  • Social Sciences: Community Development, Socio-Economic Development, and related fields

Bursary Benefits:
This is a comprehensive bursary covering study-related costs for full-time students.

  • Motivation letter (why you need the bursary and your chosen field)

  • Updated CV

  • Certified ID copy

  • Certified latest academic record

  • Acceptance letter from an accredited institution

  • Proof of residence

  • If receiving a social grant: Affidavit confirming income below threshold
