About this Programme

The Occupational Certificate: Boilermaker equips students with the technical skills and practical knowledge to work in heavy fabrication and metalwork. Learners will develop expertise in interpreting engineering drawings, using industry-standard tools, cutting and welding metals, fabricating components, and assembling structures according to industry specifications.

Minimum Admission Requirements

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science

Duration

Practical Skill Modules

  • Visualise structures and components; develop templates to set tolerances and standards while applying safety measures (NQF Level 4)

  • Maintain and operate tools, equipment and machinery (NQF Level 4)

  • Weld and gas-cut components for specific fabrication tasks such as pipes, construction work, and plate work; conduct inspections for compliance (NQF Level 4)

  • Fabricate and manipulate metal sections using heating and cold bending processes (NQF Level 4)

  • Erect, assemble, and repair metal structures while applying safety measures (NQF Level 4)

Work Experience Modules

  • Pattern and template development processes (NQF Level 4)

  • Maintenance and operation of tools, equipment and machinery (NQF Level 4)

  • Cutting and welding processes in workshop or on-site environments (NQF Level 4)
