Walter Sisulu University (WSU) is a public university based in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It delivers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across multiple disciplines with a focus on regional development, applied research and community engagement.

History

Walter Sisulu University was established in 2005 through the merger of several tertiary institutions in the Eastern Cape region, created to consolidate resources and expand access to higher education across the province. Since its formation it has developed multi-campus provision serving largely rural and underserved communities in the Eastern Cape.

To provide high-quality, relevant education, training and scholarship that contributes to human development and socio-economic transformation in the Eastern Cape and South Africa, through teaching, research and community engagement.
