Vaal University of Technology (VUT) is a South African university of technology located in the Vaal Triangle region of Gauteng. VUT offers career-focused undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in engineering, applied sciences, management, humanities and technology-related fields, with a strong emphasis on applied research, industry partnerships and skills development.
History
Vaal University of Technology traces its origins to technical education provision in the Vaal Triangle region established in the 1960s. It developed as a technikon and, following higher education restructuring in South Africa, was designated a university of technology in the early 2000s. Over time VUT expanded its programme offerings, research capacity and industry partnerships to serve the economic and social development needs of the region and the country.
To provide career-focused education, applied research and innovation that equip graduates with the technical, professional and entrepreneurial skills required by industry and society, and to contribute to regional development through partnerships and community engagement.
