University of Venda
The University of Venda (UNIVEN) is a South African public university based in Thohoyandou, Limpopo. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across multiple academic disciplines, emphasising community engagement, applied research and regional development.
History
The University of Venda was established in 1982 to serve the then Venda homeland. After the end of apartheid and the reintegration of homeland institutions into the South African higher education system, UNIVEN continued to develop its academic and research capacity, expanding programmes and community engagement initiatives to support socio-economic development in the Limpopo region.
To provide quality higher education, generate and apply knowledge through research, and contribute to the social and economic development of the region and nation through teaching, learning and community engagement.
