About this course
Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Civil Engineering develops knowledge and practical capability in engineering design, scientific analysis and technology-based problem-solving. Students build analytical, communication and problem-solving skills through theory and applied learning. Exact modules and practical components vary by institution and study year.

Other admission conditions
For candidates who matriculated in 2007 and before : A Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (NSC) and a minimum score of 32 points on the CUT scoring scale, plus the following: a minimum mark of 50% on standard grade or 40% on higher grade in
both Physical Sciences and English; and a minimum mark of 60% on standard grade or 50% on higher grade in Mathematics. Candidates must also adhere to the general admission regulations for candidates who matriculated in 2007 or before
Mathematical Literacy will not be accepted in any of the Engineering disciplines. For candidates who matriculated in 2008 and thereafter : A Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (NSC) and a minimum score of 32 points on the CUT scoring scale,
plus the following: a minimum mark of 50% to 59% (Level 4) in both Physical Sciences and English; and a minimum mark of 60% to 69% (Level 5) for Mathematics. Candidates must also adhere to the general admission regulations for candidates who
matriculated in 2008 or thereafter. Mathematical Literacy will not be accepted in any of the Engineering disciplines. Candidates in possession of the National Certificate Vocational (NCV) will be selected according to the selection requirements
as approved by Senate and they should also adhere to the general admission regulations for candidates who completed the N3, N4, N5 and N6 qualifications at a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college. In cases where a candidate
does not meet the minimum admission requirements, recognition of prior learning (RPL) in addition to the minimum admission requirements could be considered on a case-by-case situation. In other words, RPL in combination with the criteria

Graduates may apply for relevant honours or postgraduate diploma study where their qualification, modules and academic results meet the receiving programme's rules. Advanced or postgraduate study in the same engineering discipline, engineering management or a related specialisation, subject to academic results and professional requirements.
