Port Elizabeth College
Port Elizabeth TVET College (PETC) is a public Technical and Vocational Education and Training institution based in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth) in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. The college provides a range of occupational qualifications, National Certificate (Vocational) programmes, skills programmes and short courses aimed at preparing learners for the workplace and further study. PETC serves school-leavers, unemployed youth and working adults through full-time and part-time delivery across multiple campuses in the metro area.
History
Port Elizabeth TVET College traces its roots to the technical and community colleges that served the Port Elizabeth area in the late 20th century. Following national reforms to further education and training, these institutions were consolidated and reconstituted as a public TVET college to expand access to vocational education and to respond to local labour market needs. Over time PETC has developed partnerships with industry, community organisations and employers in the Eastern Cape to strengthen workplace-based learning and graduate placement.
To provide relevant, flexible and quality vocational education and training that equips learners with practical skills, knowledge and competencies for employment, entrepreneurship and further study, thereby contributing to social and economic development in the region.
