Grade 12 September Trial Exams: Your 14-Day Preparation Plan for Every Subject

September trial exams are the best full rehearsal before the final NSC examinations. This preparation thread is for every Grade 12 learner—languages, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, sciences, commerce, humanities, technology, arts and practical subjects.

Start here
1. Confirm your own school or provincial trial timetable. Dates and paper order can differ, so use the timetable issued by your school as the final source.
2. List every subject and paper you will write. Mark each topic green (confident), amber (needs practice) or red (not yet secure).
3. Spend most of your revision time on red and amber topics, but keep short daily recall sessions for green topics.
4. Use the EduCoast Grade 12 subject pages to find past question papers, memoranda, study guides and textbooks for your exact subject and language.
5. Practise under timed conditions and mark every answer with the official memorandum.

The 14-day plan
Days 14–11: Diagnose. Complete one recent paper or a representative section for each subject. Build an error list showing the topic, why the answer was wrong and the correct method.
Days 10–7: Repair. Revise weak concepts from your notes and the linked guides. After each topic, answer questions without looking at the worked example.
Days 6–4: Simulate. Write full papers in the correct time, without notes or phone access. Practise data sheets, formula sheets, maps, source booklets and calculators exactly as required.
Days 3–2: Correct. Redo every question you previously missed. For languages, practise comprehension, summary, transactional writing and prescribed literature. For content subjects, focus on command words, calculations, diagrams and evidence.
Day 1: Light review only. Pack stationery, calculator and identification; check the venue and starting time; sleep properly.

How to prepare by subject type
• Languages: rotate Paper 1 language skills, Paper 2 literature and Paper 3 writing. Use the correct home, first-additional or second-additional-language resources.
• Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy and technical subjects: show every step, check units, learn formula use and practise without reading solutions first.
• Sciences and technology: combine definitions with calculations, diagrams, experiments and application questions.
• Accounting, Business Studies, Economics and other commerce subjects: practise formats, calculations, case studies and command verbs.
• Geography, History, Religion Studies and humanities: plan structured responses, use sources carefully and support claims with relevant facts.
• CAT, IT, EGD, arts and practical subjects: revise theory while also practising the required practical process and file-management rules.
