The Central University of Technology (CUT) was established in 1981 as the Technikon Free State, and became a University of Technology in 2004. Based in the Free State Province, CUT focuses on applied sciences, engineering, technology, education, and entrepreneurship.
With around 20,000 students, CUT is a leader in innovation and 4IR (Fourth Industrial Revolution) research, especially in areas like 3D printing, robotics, and renewable energy. The university has two main campuses.
