The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) Bursary Scheme aims to support students pursuing careers in the mining and minerals sector. The scheme is available to both unemployed learners and currently employed individuals in the sector.
Applications open on 22 June 2025 and close on 31 July 2025.
1. For Unemployed Learners
Eligibility Criteria

Must be a South African citizen
-
Currently in Grade 12, or already studying at a public university, university of technology, or TVET college
-
Must be unemployed at the time of applying and remain unemployed throughout the duration of study
-
Strong academic record
-
Combined household income must not exceed R600,000 per annum

Studying (or planning to study) a qualification relevant to the mining sector

Not already funded by an MQA internship or P1/P2 programme
