Ehlanzeni TVET College invites suitable and qualifying candidates to take part in the MICT SETA National Skills Hackathon 2026. The competition is open for entries and there is R200,000 in cash prizes to be won.

About the MICT SETA National Skills Hackathon 2026

MICT SETA brings the National Skills Competition to Mpumalanga Province with a two-day Hackathon hosted at Ehlanzeni TVET College. The hackathon is organised in partnership with MICT SETA, Ehlanzeni TVET College and AlgoAtWork.

The programme aims to develop digital skills and encourage youth-led innovation through practical Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for real-world rural challenges.

Who Can Apply?

The hackathon is open to:

Mpumalanga Province youth aged 18 to 35
TVET College students
Teams of 3 to 5 members

What Will Teams Do?

Participating teams will be required to design and pitch AI and/or IoT solutions that address real-world rural challenges across different sectors, including agriculture, education, health, and service delivery. Projects will be assessed on innovation, technical feasibility, impact, and presentation.

Prizes and Benefits

Winners will share R200,000 in cash prizes. Beyond the prize, participants will benefit from skills development, mentorship, industry exposure and networking opportunities with leaders in technology and education.
